What's New In The House?
President Signs Johanna's Law into Law!
Dear Friends,
Thanks to all of you who worked so hard to obtain Congressional support for and passage of
Johanna's Law. In the closing hours of the 109th Congress, on December 8th and 9th,
Johanna's Law passed by unanimous consent in both the U.S. Senate and House.
Although it took awhile for the final text of the bill to reach President Bush's desk for
his signature, it got to The White House in early January --- and he signed Johanna's Law
into law on January 12, 2007.
Our next step is to secure the funding for Johanna's Law provided by the authorizing
legislation that the President signed. Stay tuned to this Website and those of other
groups that endorsed Johanna's Law (e.g. Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, National
Ovarian Cancer Coalition, and Conversations) for updates and "Action Steps"
needed in our effort to obtain full funding for this landmark legislation to improve early
detection of ovarian cancer and other gynecologic cancers.
Best wishes for a happy, healthy 2007 to you all!!!
With deepest gratitude for your efforts,
Sheryl Silver, founder
Johanna's Law Alliance for Women's Cancer Awareness
